Midlife.
That's when it all changed.
I started this songwriting adventure in 2015 when I attended my first house concert for a friend's birthday.
I was blown away, practically speechless, as I talked with the singer-songwriter about his performance and life in general. "You know, YOU should write a song" the artist told me. "Right." I thought as he scribbled down the name of a retreat for songwriters on a back of his business card. "There's great people here" he said, "You should check it out. Really nice people." We shook hands and he headed back to the family room for the second half of his set.
A year later (and for five years following), I found myself driving several hours to that very retreat and haven't looked back since. These days, I consider myself a creative artist, actively seeking growth personally and artistically.
The singer-songwriter I met at the house concert was right- and I couldn't be happier with the experiences and AWESOME friends I've made along this musical journey.
Truly transforming.
I've since had the chance to share a few meals with- and even play some of my songs- for that stranger who had nothing to gain from his encouragement to pursue my passion- and it changed my life.
If you can...Be that person for someone else.
